About Esther

​

​Since childhood Esther has occupied herself by making small things.  Indulging this compulsion, her current work is made up of hundreds of individually painted miniatures.   These tiny paintings are composed and assembled by a process of layering and folding to create intricate three–dimensional pieces.  The dynamic structures appear to shift as the viewer and shadows move around the work.  The kinetic style of her work is further supported by the artist’s use of mixed media, texture and complementary colour.

Influences


Textile practices are referenced throughout Esther’s body of work.  Having studied design at the London College of Fashion, she is concerned with the tension between fine and applied art.  Whilst Esther considers her work to be thought provoking, it is important to her that her paintings are tactile and inviting.

Esther is an artist in residence in Kent, where she lives with her partner and daughter.

BEACH CREATIVE​​

​Beach Creative is a community arts centre in Herne Bay.  The building contains a wonderful group of local artists who have private studios upstairs. Esther can be found working at her studio most days of the week.   If you wish to enquire about commissioning a piece or are interested gallery, then you can arrange visit Esther by appointment.

Beach creative has a lovely gallery space and café downstairs,  and offers creative courses throughout the year.
